Joy after Loss

A$545.00

90 x 90cm, Acrylic on Canvas, ( 3.5cm deep)

In 2020 my father passed away a month after my 21st birthday. This is my first painting exploring a journey through grief.

For a long time I felt lost in this desert wasteland of grief, no oasis in sight. Slowly burning under the harsh sun.

But even though it seems impossible, joy will bloom again. And when it comes you must seize it. Savour it like it’s your last meal.

Feeling joy doesn’t mean you’ve forgotten. My dad will never be forgotten. He is a part of me. My heritage.

But I will not be defined or consumed by grief. I will have seasons of grief but also seasons of joy.

I hope this painting finds someone who needs to hear this.
