Illustration | Ulleråker Gård anti-flyer

How do we turn a promotional ad into a piece of art, rather than a cheap discount flyer than ends up in the bin? This is the challenge that I tackled for a local Swedish business called Ulleråker Gård. They are a community hub / cafe / urban farming space that aims to bring the community together.

Since Ulleråker Gård is such a community driven project it seemed ingenuine to just do a junk mail style advert with a big 50% off sale in the centre. Instead, we wanted to find a way to show the people behind the business and really invite the community to see the personality, offerings and passion for sustainability. We turned the flyer into a double-sided, doodle style piece of art that offers a promotion if people bring the flyer back in to the cafe. This adds to the sustainability aspect as the returned flyers can be redistributed to reach more potential customers. We also included hand drawn characters of some of the team actually engaging in a discussion about how much of a discount the flyer should offer (a bit meta ay!).
