Branding for Unfurl Microbakery
There’s something about the smell of freshly baked bread that just feels like home.
Bek and Emma noticed a gap in the market and decided to start up a local microbakery in Tamworth to bring locally made sourdough and other baked good to their community. They came up with the name ‘Unfurl’ based on the image of a fern leaf. Unfurl traditionally means; make or become spread out from a rolled or folded state. The fern acts as a symbol, not only representing personal growth but like the rolled and folded sourdough bread it slowly spreads and rises until it is in its final form.
We used this concept within the logo and make the fern leaf illustration imitate the decorative scoring of a traditional sourdough loaf. We also decided to incorporate hand drawn illustrations of baked goods to bring a homemade touch to their branding.
It was an absolute privilege working with such a beautiful small business to bring their vision to life. It’s crazy to think it started with two mums and a dream, now it’s a bustling business that’s feeding local families.
